Our Journey

Meet Sheralle

An optimist by nature with the belief that the universe is each individual's fruit to savour, Sheralle Maclou thrives on birthing successful businesses.

A founder and business leader driven by a belief in ownership, access, and long-term value creation within African contexts. Her work sits at the intersection of strategy, culture, and enterprise, with a focus on building structures that allow people and ideas to grow with agency.

The founding of The 3rd Space comes from her commitment to creating physical places where African cultural work is held, owned, and sustained. She established the space to address the absence of environments where artists and cultural thinkers can live, work, and exchange on their own terms, while contributing to a shared creative economy rooted in place.

Sheralle brings experience in marketing, strategic brand management, and business development across multiple sectors. She is the CEO of Recreate You, former shareholder and director at Sozala Media, Marketing Director of EDO EATS, and consults with boards across a range of businesses. She is also the founder and managing director of Trinity Brands.

Alongside her commercial work, she mentors aspiring Black business owners and supports initiatives that prioritise knowledge exchange, ownership, and sustainability. Through The 3rd Space, her focus remains on building structures that outlast individuals and contribute to a lasting cultural record.

The 3rd Space

Founding Vision

The 3rd Space was founded to hold space for African cultural diversity, ownership, and exchange within Cape Town. It responds to the need for places where creative work and cultural agency are held by those who live and contribute here.

Situated in Cape Town’s city centre, our space operates within a layered urban and cultural landscape. It engages with local histories while welcoming global perspectives that respect this grounding.

The 3rd Space will continue to expand its public programmes, partnerships, and archive. A café opening in  late 2026 will extend the work into everyday encounters, dialogue, and shared presence.
